Hydra:
One
of the first intelligent races of the Lands, hydras were the first dragons and
now they are considered to be the last of the dragon kind. They were born from the sea and rarely go
ashore, because of their limbless lower body. However, they have hand-like
upper body limbs that are well formed and suited for using different tools.
Hydras don’t have wings like earth dragons. Instead, they have lots of fins
which make them fast and swift in water.
All hydras are monoecious . A hydra has two heads – one male and one female.
They lay eggs and then fertilize them. When
they are hatched, little ones can breathe only underwater. After their first
year they start to develop lungs and can breathe air too.
Hydras populate the Hydra Islands and Hydra Gulf (both named after them). They communicate only with the tribes of Fishermen Shores and trade with them precious pearls and rare sea foods.
Dragon:
Dragons are
generally 3 types: Water Dragons (hydras), Earth Dragons and Frost Dragons. It
is said, that the Earth Dragons came to this world after the Elf prince
Strassameer found a hydra egg and brought it to his palace to preserve it as
decoration, but the egg hatched by incident. That was the birth to the first
dragon, known as Mother of all Dragons.
Earth
Dragons are two types: Royal Dragons that have the size of a farm-house and
Minor Dragons with the size of two cows (fully grown). Royals were the first. They weren’t
very social and communicated only with the elf kind. They lived mainly in the
mountains, where they could find lots of gems and gold. The more treasures a
dragon could have, the bigger and stronger it gets. However, precious stones
and metals weren’t that much to support many dragons and some of them remained
small (later known as Minor Dragons). Minos were more communicative, however
humans and dwarves feared them and almost destroyed their kind.
Royals and
Minors have almost the same look – lizard-like bodies, granite-hard scales and
sharp spikes. Almost all dragons have wings. They are some exceptions, but they
are rarity. And of cource, all Earth Dragons breathe fire.
Elf:
Elves came
to the Lands from across the Unexplored Sea (west side) and set camp in the
forest. They found that powerful magic runs through this place so they decided
to colonize it.
Elves are
tall, human-like beings with pale skin and pointy ears. They are very fine,
magical creatures who have deep respect for Mother Nature (their main Goddess).
Being peaceful and spiritual, they are in good terms with every other race, or
every living thing in general. However, not everything is as peaceful as them,
so they still need to forge weapons and armory for self-defence.
On the Lands, Elven populations can be found only in Elf’s Wood. Their
main villages are south of Mermaid Gulf. Elven merchants sometimes travel to
the Free Lands and Rah’adje Empire, but they don’t stay there long. Elves trade
with every other race.
Goblin:
Goblins came to the Lands on steam boats via the Unexplored
Sea (north-west coast). They first encountered the mermaids, who were very
surprised by these unseen creatures and their mode of transportation. However,
the goblins showed them they came with peace and in search of new lands. They
set foot in the swamps before the Arc Mountain and found that the underground
caves there are rich of ores so they made them their new home.
Goblins are short creatures, the same size as dwarves. They
have greenish skin and hair that could be of every known colour. They are curious and friendly by nature. A
very innovative race that invents all kinds of things. They brought firearms
and explosives to the Lands, as well as electricity. They don’t gladly share
their inventions with just everyone, only to those who have shown hospitality
to them. Goblins are feared by northern humans and are not welcome in the Sire
or Kingdom North. However southern humans are more open to other races and
welcome them in Rah’adje.
Goblins populate mainly Goblin Gaulds. Small tribes are
found in the Free Lands, Elf’s Wood and Rah’adje Empire. They trade with
mermaids, elves, dwarves and southern humans.
